Thanks Jim. Yes, it’s the one and the same Ronnie Earl. The album marked his turn to a very jazzy style of playing, with solid accompanying musicians, and it is really worth hearing. It remains his most interesting release to my ears.

Nice review. Plus I am a fan of the Holly Cole and Tord Gustavsen recordings you mention. Ronnie Earl playing Coltrane’s Alabama? This I find difficult comprehend. That’s Ronnie Earl of Roomful of Blues?

I own a pair of Kef 103/4’s and I was looking to possibly trade up to these svs ultras. Since you are familiar with the type of speaker I have, I was curious if they are indeed a better speaker and worth moving up to. Thanks in advance!

You inspired me to get Victor Uzul’s fabulous recording of solo pieces, entitled unsurprisingly, ‘Solo Cello’ but I can’t find anything like it on the web or Amazon. Any help you can supply would be appreciated.
